About The Tiffin Girls' School

The Tiffin Girls’ School, a selective state school and stand-alone Academy, is a vibrant and happy community where the students take centre stage. The school is currently home to 1,240 students, aged between 11 and 18, and is now into its 143rd year. The school prides itself on encouraging students to aspire to excellence in everything they do, whether that be: academic excellence, a passion and enthusiasm for the creative and performing arts, sporting prowess, or student leadership. A broad and challenging curriculum sits alongside a stimulating and rewarding range of extracurricular activities, many of which are student-led, and these elements of school life combine to develop inquisitive, confident, dynamic and successful young people ready for their future lives as global citizens.

Working at The Tiffin Girls' School

The strong team of highly qualified staff has extensive and varied experience. They share a commitment to high standards of learning, discipline and care for the personal wellbeing of each student. Opportunities for professional development are essential and care is taken to ensure all staff have access to training and new experiences through a comprehensive and personalised programme of CPD, both elective and directed through twilight and inset days. Based on the needs identified by appraisal and teaching and learning reviews, our CPD programme offers bespoke pathways. There is a well-developed programme of induction for all new colleagues and newly qualified teachers and staff are encouraged to join working parties on specific areas of development. There is also an active staff association which arranges social activities throughout the year. Staff describe The Tiffin Girls’ School as a unique place to work because:

“working here means you teach girls who want to be challenged and inspired and who challenge me every day”

“the attitude and behaviour of the girls makes it a unique place to work – they are willing to throw themselves into everything with enthusiasm”.

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointment is subject to enhanced child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Equal Opportunities

The school is an equal opportunities employer. We recruit, train and promote people because of their ability, the needs of the post and other relevant criteria. We encourage all employees to take advantage of the opportunities we provide for training and development. We treat all employees and people who apply to us equally. We will not consider your race, nationality, colour, ethnicity, heritage or national origin, age, sex, marital status, sexuality, beliefs or disability in any matters to do with employment. We regularly review our practices and procedures to make sure our equal opportunities policy is working but we need more than this formal statement to make the policy work. We expect each of our employees to make their own contribution.
